COSTA MESA, Calif. - December 15, 2009 - SYSPRO, the leading provider of visionary pragmatic ERP software, said today that SYSPRO USA President Joey Benadretti has reiterated the company's top three principles for providing a high-value enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for mid-market manufacturers and distributors which also continue to advance the company's success against its largest ERP competitors. Benadretti noted that the company focuses on value-based pricing, in-depth mid-market expertise in industry verticals and a corporate dedication to relationships and the success of its customers. Benadretti has been investigating with SYSPRO U.S. Value Added Partners and key U.S. customers to gain insight into their needs and discuss ways they can leverage available technology to gain a competitive edge and increase market share.
"SYSPRO has repeatedly set itself apart in the ERP landscape by putting the needs of our customers first, and that is what has led to one of the highest customer retention rates in the industry," Benadretti said. "Our success is based on the success of our customers. We focus on the continuous improvement of their businesses, helping them migrate to higher levels via the innovative use of technology. Our high customer retention success is not underpinned by new customers going 'live' with SYSPRO. It is based on the continual building of relationships with existing and new customers, providing customers with solutions that help them achieve greater insight into and tighter controls of their operations, such as adherence to FDA and other regulatory compliance."
"Investments in technology are rarely about short term needs," continued Benadretti. "SYSPRO technology allows manufacturers to personalize and tailor their systems to an untold number of unique business specific requirements without having the need to touch the underlying source code or undermining the business logic. This clearly positions SYSPRO ahead of the competition and represents one of the most important attributes in terms of ensuring ROI, mitigating risk, sustainability and selecting a future-oriented business application."
In keeping with the SYSPRO philosophy SYSPRO customer, Engineered Products Company (EPCO), a Minnetonka, Minn.-based supplier of electrical products, notes that the SYSPRO corporate philosophy was a primary reason why the company selected SYSPRO software over eight competitors. "The SYSPRO team spent their time making certain the functionality of the software fit our business processes and business philosophy," noted Jack Schuster, EPCO President.
In 2009 SYSPRO was named "Software Company of the Year" by the Technology Council and "Outstanding Private Technology Company" by TechAmerica; however, Benadretti is looking ahead. "I refuse to rest on our laurels. We hold past awards as standards against which we can measure our future achievements," he says.
The SYSPRO customer focus is embodied in SYSPRO PragmaVisionTM - a visionary, yet proven ERP roadmap for mid-market manufacturers and distributors who demand a unique combination of robust, scalable and current technologies. They desire a proven track record, require strong references, a long-term relationship and seek evolution not revolution. SYSPRO provides ERP software and services to "simplify your success."

SYSPRO Commends Insightful CIO Minute
COSTA MESA, Calif. - December 17, 2009 - SYSPRO, the leading provider of visionary pragmatic ERP software, said today that SYSPRO USA President Joey Benadretti applauds the insight of an article that appears in the December 7, 2009, issue of CIO Minute. In the article, "Why Doesn't Software Learn 'Me'?" author John Parkinson, CIO of TransUnion, decries the fact that software upgrades add value, but very little in the way of user-friendliness. The article concludes, "I think every software product should have a 'personalization' option ... the software would observe how I interact with it and adjust how it works to make me as efficient as possible..."
Benadretti states that Parkinson's concern was similar to those expressed by SYSPRO users and which the company addressed with its revolutionary Fluid Interface Design. "Fluid Interface Design enables every user of SYSPRO software to perfectly align their individual requirements and business roles to achieve new levels of operational efficiency.
"Your average SYSPRO software user has the ability to utilize common actions like drag and drop to move or create custom fields, delete and restore fields, tailor screens and forms, move items to background status and perform a myriad of other customization actions to enhance accuracy and elevate performance levels and customize the user interface of SYSPRO software to meet their specific personal or role-based requirements," says Benadretti. "The Fluid Interface Design even enables the user to extend the functionality of default fields with the aid of simple VB Scripting, making it possible to leverage the power of SYSPRO e.net solutions business component architecture or interfaces defined by data sources and systems outside of the SYSPRO environment." He adds, "All this personalization is saved and retained even when the software is upgraded."
"While it would be impossible, uneconomical and impractical for software developers and an interface design team to come up with every possible screen layout or arrangement, Fluid Interface Design adds a new level of user self-customization and data access ease that 10 years ago was only a dream in the world of software," states Benadretti.
The SYSPRO customer focus is embodied in SYSPRO PragmaVision - a visionary, yet proven ERP roadmap for mid-market manufacturers and distributors who demand a unique combination of robust, scalable and current technologies. They desire a proven track record, require strong references, a long-term relationship and seek evolution not revolution. SYSPRO provides ERP software and services to "simplify your success."

SYSPRO provides the heartbeat for Cappella's commercialisation plans
Medical device company Cappella has selected a SYSPRO ERP system from K3 Business Technology Group (K3) to help drive forward its commercialisation plans.
The new fully validated and integrated manufacturing, financial and distribution system will enable the innovative vascular stent manufacturer to service its growing customer base in the UK, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
Ken Beatty, Vice President Sales and Operations at Cappella, is an experienced ERP user having implemented SAP and QAD (MFG/PRO) for other companies. He says: "We need a scalable system to support our expansion and SYSPRO provides the exact flexibility we require. Other key features that confirmed our decision to select SYSPRO included the Microsoft .NET architecture and the complete end-to-end traceability function provided by the Lot Traceability module. K3's demonstration of SYSPRO clearly showed that this was the system for us."
Cappella began as a research and development organisation. The company used spreadsheets extensively for managing its business but soon outgrew the manual system when it evolved into a commercial enterprise. Demand for its groundbreaking products means that Cappella must respond quickly to customers.
"With SYSPRO we benefit from a fully automated system that will run our Bill of Materials, routing and inventory efficiently. There will be no more duplication as we can enter information once and gain access to data in real time. Ultimately SYSPRO provides a centralised and unified solution that covers all areas of the business," says Ken Beatty.
Cappella manufactures the Sideguard® Coronary Sidebranch Stent & Delivery System at its Galway site in Ireland. These are used for treating vascular problems caused by lesions and blockages that occur in the small blood vessels that branch - bifurcate - from main arteries. The stents are inserted into the blood vessels, once reopened, and expanded to maintain blood flow.
About K3 Business Technology Group
K3 Business Technology Group employs 80 people at its Manchester head office and its branches throughout the UK and Ireland. The company offers solutions in enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management, advanced planning and scheduling, warehouse management, human resources and e-business. SYSPRO is used by some 14,000 sites across the world. K3 Business Technology Group is part of K3 Business Technology PLC which is a global leader in providing next-generation enterprise software for businesses in the retail, manufacturing and distribution sectors. With more than 3,000 customer installations in over 30 countries, K3 is recognised as a safe, innovative and reliable provider of world-class solutions, backed by world-class service.
About Cappella, Inc.
Cappella, Inc. is a medical device company, developing novel solutions for the treatment of complex Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and specifically bifurcation vascular disease. Cappella's initial product, the Sideguard® Coronary Sidebranch Stent & Delivery System offers interventional cardiologists a straightforward, effective solution that focuses on treating the sidebranch of diseased coronary arteries first, rather than the main vessel. More importantly, it allows the preferred stent of choice for the main vessel. An optimal stent design specific to the anatomy of the sidebranch, combined with the qualities of nitinol now provide a dynamic solution for treating sidebranch disease. Cappella Medical Devices Ltd., Galway, Ireland is the R&D and manufacturing subsidiary of Cappella, Inc. For more information, see: www.cappella-med.com.

SYSPRO Food ERP Reputation Wins Deal
COSTA MESA, Calif. - December 10, 2009 - SYSPRO, the leading provider of visionary pragmatic ERP software, has today announced that the company has won a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) contract from Catallia Mexican Foods via SYSPRO reseller RTE of St. Cloud, Minn., a regional ERP expert focused at the Food Industry.
According to Michael Gooch, Cost Accountant and Project Lead for Catallia, the firm's rapid growth and new product additions necessitated the search for an ERP solution to track larger inventories of ingredients, add production efficiencies and enhance customer service. "We had been using basic applications to track financial and operational data; however, data consistency and integrity has become a challenge. Growing volume and an expanding customer base made us realize we needed a fully integrated ERP solution."
After looking at multiple software options, Catallia opted for SYSPRO ERP. "The other systems didn't have the functionality, support, and track record that SYSPRO has. We took comfort in the fact that SYSPRO has continuity with an excellent reputation in the food manufacturing industry. In addition, we felt SYSPRO reseller RTE could best provide the required support," says Gooch.
Other factors impacting Catallia's decision to go with SYSPRO were the software's scalability, the availability of an integrated EDI solution and superior lot traceability. Commenting on the latter, Gooch notes, "Complete traceability is extremely important in the food industry today. Customers demand that producers have this ability."
Catallia is looking to SYSPRO to:
Gain better insight into operations,
Control costs, waste and yields,
Provide useful data to the sales team
Uphold the company's reputation for excellent customer service
The SYSPRO customer focus is embodied in SYSPRO PragmaVision -- a visionary, yet proven ERP roadmap for mid-market manufacturers and distributors who demand a unique combination of robust, scalable and current technologies. They desire a proven track record, require strong references, a long-term relationship and seek evolution not revolution. SYSPRO provides ERP software and services to "simplify your success."

Orthoponents selects SYSPRO to revolutionise business processes
K3 Business Technology Group (K3) has won a further contract to supply an additional SYSPRO ERP system to the Orthoproducts Group. Following the successful implementation of SYSPRO at the Group’s Orthoplastics division, the company’s recently acquired Orthoponents subsidiary will also gain the benefit of a fully integrated and financial, manufacturing and distribution management system.
Orthoproducts is a leading global provider of implantable materials, components and subsystems for orthopaedic applications. The organisation’s Orthoponents subsidiary will use SYSPRO to replace manual spreadsheets and an outsourced accounting function that provided no management information other than monthly accounts.
“We had an urgent need to install an ERP system to give us more control over the Orthoponents business as we had no meaningful management information,†says Darren Close, Group Financial Director.
“SYSPRO will give us real-time and historical information at the touch of a button and will eliminate inaccuracies and duplicated information. We have already implemented SYSPRO financial modules on our Orthoplastics server giving us immediate visibility of accurate accounting information. Our next phase will involve installing the manufacturing and shop floor data collection modules,†he adds.
Although the Orthoponents management team researched and reviewed several ERP systems, SYSPRO was seen as the obvious choice to help run its purpose built manufacturing facility. The Orthoponents site is equipped with first class CNC machining centres, a dedicated surface finishing cell, exceptional quality assurance apparatus and resources, a certified class 10,000 clean room and leading edge microfinishing facilities.
“We already have a positive experience with SYSPRO at the Orthoplastics site and so we expect the system to also provide a solid foundation for Orthoponents. SYSPRO can be readily validated to major regulatory requirements, which is essential. It provides a real-time view of all activities and will assist us to optimise our processes. It will allow us to look at manufacturing capacities and stocks, enabling us to boost efficiencies and fully utilise our resources,†adds Darren Close.

Equator provides easier HR event management
The latest update of the modular Equator human resource management system from K3 Business Technology Group (K3) simplifies event management for busy HR professionals. Easy to use diary triggers automatically remind staff and personnel managers of important dates for reviews, training and other important events such as disciplinary hearings. The software integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Outlook's Calendar module for easy communication.
"K3 is committed to continual development of Equator to provide the most comprehensive, user-friendly HR solution on the market. The system has been developed from the ground up by K3 to cover all the key areas for personnel management, making it much easier to gain a clear picture of the workforce. Being able to automatically administer diary dates for reviews, meetings and training sessions lightens the burden for HR departments and also ensures that all people involved are kept up to date of forthcoming events," says Kevin O'Donnell, HR Development Director, K3 Business Technology Group.
Other enhancements to the comprehensive HR package include the ability to capture Serial and/or Lot numbers when performing a Job Receipt directly from the shop floor in real-time, automatic population of the Payroll module from easily configured payroll spreadsheets, and the easy integration with third party software products. This makes it simple to use with existing tools such as T&A systems, either using Equator's fully integrated T&A module, or a third party solution. Equator offers a complete HR package, including payroll, personnel, shop floor data capture and T&A.
"Ease of use, while providing complete integration, all without the need to rely on the IT department is a keystone in Equator development. Serial and Lot traceability, for example, is an important issue for many of our customers. With the Shop Floor Data Capture module, we have made it straightforward to enter Serial and/or Lot information in real-time. By using this module, the customers systems are automatically updated and there is no need for additional data entry into the ERP system.
A lot of work is done deep down within the program's architecture so that each update brings significant enhancements to the user experience. An important part of this is constant improvements in the system's ability to integrate with other important programs that customers may rely on for the smooth running of their companies," concludes Kevin O'Donnell.

SYSPRO Honored for Driving Green ERP
Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine Cites SYSPRO Software for Helping Firms Realize Green Rewards
COSTA MESA, Calif. - November 4, 2009 - SYSPRO, a provider of visionary ERP Software for the Manufacturing Software pragmatist, has today announced the company has been honored by Supply & Demand Chain Executive as a supplier of ERP Software (Enterprise Resource Planning) software that enables users to realize 'green' goals.
SYSPRO was one of the first companies to pioneer a 'green' solution with the SYSPRO Material Yield System for which SYSPRO received the California Governor's award. The ground breaking system enables cut-shape suppliers to reclaim remnants for future use, saving them from landfills. Today, SYSPRO 'green' leadership is exemplified by the company's "Project Green EnableTM," a very broad collection of capabilities now inherent in the company's enterprise software solution. SYSPRO Project Green Enable encompasses software that drives 'green' efficiencies and sustainability across three dimensions: Energy Efficiency; Waste Reduction; and Recyclable/Re-Use of Resources.
According to SYSPRO USA President Joey Benadretti, "SYSPRO Project Green Enable ERP Software capabilities are reducing costs and supporting environmental responsibility initiatives at small and mid-sized manufacturers and distributors. SYSPRO continued leadership in providing 'green ERP Software'-centric solutions continues to win awards and attention from leading state and environmental associations."
Supply & Demand Chain Executive 2009 Green Supply Chain Awards recognize small, midsize and large organizations that are taking steps to realize 'green' goals. Submissions for the 2009 Green Supply Chain Awards were judged based on the clarity and content of the goals and strategy (30 percent), the extent of the steps being taken (30 percent), the impact of the results to date and projected results (30 percent), and the form and presentation of the information submitted (10 percent). Winners will be profiled in the publication's October/November print issue of the magazine due out at the end of November.
SYSPRO more thoughtful approach to adopting new technology, such as web services and SOA platforms, also reflects the desires of its buyers who are driven by business needs and not by the latest headlines. This exemplifies SYSPRO ongoing strategy of helping to simplify the success of its customers. SYSPRO calls its buyer landscape "PragmaVision,"TM consisting of pragmatic, visionary ERP Software executives that are driven by a desire for smart, but aggressive market growth.
About SYSPRO
Since its inception in 1978, SYSPRO has been delivering state-of-the-art business solutions to some of the world's leading companies. SYSPRO Software Facilitates IFRS Compliance
SYSPRO, a provider of visionary ERP for the manufacturing pragmatist, announced today that its software enables companies to comply with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the adoption of which will be phased into the USA between 2010 and 2014.
The differences between US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS have been narrowing since 2002, due to the efforts of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the US Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
International Financial Reporting Standardsare standards, interpretations and the framework for the preparation and presentation of financial statements adopted by the IASB whose goal it is to ensure that financial information is presented and understood in a uniform fashion, globally.
A key requirement of IFRS is to use accrual-based accounting, a cornerstone of revenue recognition, and the method SYSPRO has always assumed, making the transition to IFRS that much easier.
SYSPRO said it has studied IFRS extensively to ensure that the tool set inherent in the company's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning Software) enables users of SYSPRO software to adhere to the new standards, as required.
According to Joey Benadretti, president SYSPRO USA, "SYSPRO software is used globally, and, therefore, the company strives to incorporate in its offering the toolsets and functionalities that enable both domestic and international operations to conform to the standards dictated by individual company policies. Adherence to international standards is a good business practice."
SYSPRO's more thoughtful approach to adopting new technology also reflects the desires of its buyers who are driven by business needs and not by the latest headlines. This exemplifies SYSPRO's ongoing strategy of helping to simplify the success of its customers. SYSPRO calls its buyer landscape "PragmaVision,"TM consisting of pragmatic, visionary ERP executives that are driven by a desire for smart, but aggressive market growth.

SYSPRO web integration improves field sales communications
Ensuring field sales personnel can gain access to customer and stock data, as well as keeping headquarters up to date with sales activity, can be a problem for manufacturing companies. Telephoning the office to ask for this information and relaying sales data is inefficient, involves too many other staff and wastes time. K3 Business Technology Group (K3) has solved this issue with its fully integrated SYSPRO ERP and CRM system that can be accessed from anywhere using a web browser over a secure Internet connection.
Using the web access facility, field sales personnel can readily obtain stock figures and place orders directly into SYSPRO. The system can also be configured to allow key customers to access stock information and input orders directly. Stove, fire and vitreous enamelling manufacturer, AJ Wells and Sons Ltd is one of a growing number of companies that has taken this approach to improve the management of its sales and marketing and manufacturing activities.
John Wells, Managing Director of AJ Wells Ltd, commented: "Our key objective is to greatly improve the visibility of our business data, to track work through the factory, and to have better controls in place that will allow us to make more accurate business decisions."
A J Wells & Sons Ltd, was founded in 1972 and is a privately owned, family controlled, British company that specialises in the design and manufacture of high quality stoves; manufactures vitreous enamel products and imports fair trade tiles and pumice chimney. Run by second and third generations of the family the company is dedicated to providing products of enduring design and of the highest quality.

C&H Castings is part of the Chamberlin plc group of companies that specialises in complex iron castings and engineered products to a variety of industries worldwide. "SYSPRO will provide visibility of all jobs within the system, allowing us to align our moulding and melting processes. This is extremely important as any misalignment can result in scrap metal. The new system will also deliver improved inventory management and a clear picture of the materials we require and when they are needed, to assist us with accurate product costing. As an additional benefit, we are expecting SYSPRO to help us expedite estimating and job costing," concludes Mark Hotchin.

This marks the second time in the month of April that SYSPRO's industry leadership has been recognized by leading technology organizations. SYSPRO was also named a finalist for the "Software Company of the Year" award to be presented by the Technology Council of Southern California.
Now in its 16th year, the TechAmerica awards celebrate excellence and achievement in the region's technology industry, honoring companies, individuals and products that drive innovation. This year's winners will be announced at an awards banquet on May 14, 2009, at the Hilton Hotel in Costa Mesa, CA.
According to Joey Benadretti, president, SYSPRO USA, "Unlike many of our competitors that have gobbled up other companies, SYSPRO remains independent and focused. We believe that sustainability of our organization lies in its ability to morph into new and greater things - to understand the trends and move forward with those trends but never to lose site of our core business."
Don Hicks, executive director, TechAmerica Orange County, noted: "We congratulate SYSPRO for being named a finalist for Outstanding Private Technology Company and Joey Benadretti for being named a finalist for Outstanding Private CEO in Technology." Hicks noted, "Benadretti, president, SYSPRO USA, is being recognized for his remarkable work in strategizing the company's direction, the result of which has been an operation that has consistently shown profits and has never had a single layoff."
In addition to the awards, TechAmerica Orange County will recognize educators and students for their innovative use of science, math and technology in the classroom and the community in conjunction with Project Tomorrow, the nation's leading education nonprofit group focused on preparing today's students to be tomorrow's innovators.

SYSPRO streamlines build-to-order process
K3 Business Technology's SYSPRO ERP report-writing capability gives build-to-order manufacturers the planning and scheduling tools they need to maximise efficiency and meet different customer needs.
For example, Boss Design, a UK manufacturer of contract seating, is using SYSPRO's report-writing functionality to revolutionise its shop-floor planning.
This has reduced lead times and wastage.
SYSPRO automatically produces a dispatch log detailing which orders are to be dispatched and on which day.
Working back from this data, the planning reports and work-too lists are produced, which schedules work so that final assembly occurs just one-to-two days prior to an order's dispatch.
With the ability to plan, Boss Design is now moving towards a general four-week lead time, although some standard products do have a two-week turnaround.
The group has also introduced a rapid response, seven-day delivery for key customers.
This is based around another SYSPRO-generated report, which instead of working out dispatch based on geography, works to delivery date; from this, report planners prioritise these orders through production.
Virginia Seaward, head of operations at Boss Design, said: 'By almost eliminating order mistakes and combining this with vastly improved visibility of demand and the ability to effectively schedule work, we have seen lead times come down, there is much less waste - both in terms of manpower and material - and improved customer service is constantly improving, all while still achieving massive growth.'.

COSTA MESA, Calif. - March 25, 2009 -- SYSPRO, a leading, worldwide provider of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software, and Arnel, Orange County's foremost property management company, jointly participated in a ceremony this date to mark the grand opening of SYSPRO's expanded USA corporate headquarters at Costa Mesa's Metro Pointe Business Center. The gala observance, presided over by the Honorable Allan Mansoor, Mayor of Costa Mesa, included a ribbon-cutting, speeches, entertainment and lunch.
Dignitaries present included Mr. George Argyros, former Ambassador to Spain and currently CEO and Chairman of Arnel & Affiliates, and Kevin Hauber, President of Arnel Commercial Properties, who assisted SYSPRO Joey Benadretti, President of SYSPRO USA, and Brian Stein, SYSPRO USA CEO, in cutting the ribbon to SYSPRO's new, state-of-the-art headquarters at 959 South Coast Drive. SYSPRO staff, customers, suppliers and members of the press were among the VIPs enjoying the festivities. The ceremony which followed also commemorated SYSPRO's twenty second year as a major contributor to Orange County's business community. SYSPRO, whose name tops the west office tower in the Metro Pointe Center, opened its offices in Orange County in 1987 and has been a landmark tenant of the Metro Pointe complex since 1997.
In welcoming the several hundred attending, Hauber noted, "The SYSPRO team has the characteristics of their leaders, Joey and Brian. They have created a positive culture by a commitment to their staff and their solid customer base. SYSPRO represents the type of tenant that every landlord likes to have. Their walls are covered with awards and plaques attesting to the fact that they are recognized by their peers as leaders in the industry. They are the best in their class."
Mr. Argyros noted, "Their [SYSPRO] success as global leaders in the production of world class Enterprise Resource Planning software is due to their focus on meeting the needs of their clients."
Mayor Mansoor presented Stein and Benadretti with a proclamation and keys to the city for SYSPRO's contribution to strengthening the economic base of Costa Mesa with "new technologies, innovations and ideas."
Benadretti praised the stimulating Orange County environment and the way it supports business. Alluding to President Obama's rhetoric which includes the phrase "Yes we can," Benadretti passionately declared, "I say we can, and I say we have...our history is a part of our future....to the thousands of people in the SYSPRO eco-system that I pay tribute to today...There's no question we've achieved plenty. While we've won many awards, the proudest moments I can look back on are the little awards...those for customer service and customer retention. I say to all of you, 'we can, and we have,' and we will back it up with our tenacity, our expertise as a company and above all our responsiveness, which goes beyond our community. It's a responsiveness and responsibility for the environment and the whole eco system in which we exist.
"SYSPRO is all about relationships to our customers, and to our staff and to everybody that feeds and touches us at any point, I say 'thank you' again.
"PragmaVision to SYSPRO is not just a marketing concept. SYSPRO is a pragmatic company with a vision. We do everything towards our goals, try to be better at everything we do..being the best we can be.
"We have three significant goals...To increase our sales one hundred percent over the next three years... one hundred percent customer retention...and one hundred percent customer satisfaction. If we can achieve those, we'll be the best in the industry." Benadretti proudly added that while the IT industry has experienced layoffs averaging about 25% to 35%, SYSPRO has never had one and never anticipates having one.
SYSPRO's leading software solution enables small and medium size manufacturers and distributors to lean their operations and successfully compete in their respective industries. SYSPRO worldwide revenues, growing market share and long pedigree of awards are testament to the efficiencies enabled by the firm's software offering. SYSPRO has been cited for the functionality of its software, leading implementation methodology, strong reseller channel and outstanding management. SYSPRO was previously named Software Company of the Year by the Technology Council of Southern California amid a wide range of top industry awards.

K3 aims to help manufacturers cut haulage costs
UK SYSPRO ERP specialist K3 Business Technology Group (K3) has linked up with a South African software developer in a bid to save manufacturers thousands of pounds in haulage costs.
The Manchester-based company is working in partnership with transport planning and fleet optimisation specialist OPSI to help companies use their internal and external fleets of vehicles more cost-effectively, with savings of up to 20 per cent.
OPSI's Planning Logistics and Transport Optimiser (PLATO) logistics software fits perfectly with K3's SYSPRO ERP system. SYSPRO enables manufacturers to shrink time to market; from initial design through production and out of the factory gate, providing seamless integration with both financial and distribution modules. It also offers superior features for estimating, scheduling, costing, lot and serial tracking, as well as back-flushing, material verification, inventory optimisation and planning.
PLATO is a central management system that makes the transportation process more efficient and cost-effective. It manages and enables the visualisation of the entire transportation process from order inception to financial administration for external hauliers.
The system complements order management, forecasting, warehouse management, yard management, tracking and financial administration systems. Plus, it is robust enough to create accurate and optimal planning models and flexible enough to allow for estimations and re-optimisations during execution.
Sam Nudelman, Marketing Director of OPSI, a global organisation with its head office in South Africa, says: "Our software works for any fleet of vehicles, from 10 cars for sales agents up to 1,000 or more trucks. It helps to minimise the mileage driven, maximise the fleet utilisation and, through ongoing monitoring substantially reduces the cost of doing business. Depending on the type of enterprise, fleet cost savings of 10-20 per cent is usual. The exciting part for us is that K3 is a well established and reputable company in the UK with a large footprint. It has a great team and is ideally suited as a partner organisation because our products are totally complementary to the current K3 offering."
Howard Joseph, Managing Director, K3 Business Technology Group says: "SYSPRO is already adding value to the businesses of our customers, underlining the importance of why people are investing in the latest systems to remain competitive and stay one step ahead of the competition. PLATO is a natural stablemate for SYSPRO in potentially offering our customers further cost-effective distribution solutions and we are delighted to be working with OPSI as a partner organisation."
SYSPRO user Westland Horticulture has already been using the PLATO system which has delivered impressive results.
Paul McKernan, Group Head of IT at Westland, says: " OPSI Systems completed the installation of PLATO at Westland Horticulture with great attention to detail and worked far above and beyond what was expected to ensure that the system went Live. Since Go-Live they have provided support for the system and on the rare occasion that we have any issues they are resolved quickly. The benefit to Westland over the last 15 months has been exceptional, a more streamlined planning process, quicker access to information, greater control of our haulier invoices, as well as an increase in load efficiency."

Inventory Optimization White Paper
Inventory control is typically a key aspect of almost every manufacturing and/or distribution operation business. The ultimate success of these businesses is often dependent on its ability to provide customers with the right goods, at the right place, at the right time.
Failure to have the right goods in the right place at the right time often leads to lost sales and profi ts and, even worse, to lost customers. Today’s reality is that there is very little differentiation between commodity products of the same type, and customers will, more often than not, choose to return to businesses that meet all three conditions, even choosing relatively unknown brands over known brands.
Inventory Optimization application was designed to provide customers with advantages that can only be derived when optimization functionality is executed as an integral component of an ERP system.
The SYSPRO Inventory Optimization solution is consistent with meeting the requirements of the following company objectives:
• Helping customers to increase overall efficiencies
• Utilizing technology for superior decision-making
• Providing visibility across the supply chain
• Enhancing a demand driven model for the company
• Delivering greater profitability to the customer’s bottom line

LEAN Manufacturing
LEAN Manufacturing is a powerful approach used by manufacturing companies to rastically improve their operating processes. This may include improving inventory control, job costing and forecasting. Manufacturing was also the original spawning ground of MRP and MRP II which later evolved into the now ubiquitous ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) that we find in virtually every type of corporate entity.
In today's business world, it is appropriate to ask how LEAN and ERP interact – if at all – and specifically whether they are mutually supportive, mutually exclusive or independent concepts altogether. In short, LEAN addresses how rocesses should work, and ERP makes sure the processes work consistently.
In this white paper we respectfully present our conclusion, namely that some LEAN initiatives can be hugely strengthened with a synergistic ERP implementation and vice versa, whereas in other cases the two efforts should really be viewed as separate initiatives and managed independently from each other. This is, however, not an open ended “it depends on what you want” answer; we conclude that specific LEAN initiatives will eventually fail without considerable attention to specific ERP aspects, but that other specific LEAN initiatives and specific ERP functionality have little in common.
SYSPRO Software Key to STM Group Global Integration
COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SYSPRO, a provider of visionary ERP for the manufacturing pragmatist, today announced that SYSPRO customer, STM Group, is in the process of further expansion of its SYSPRO ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) implementation. STM Group, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., is a leading provider of high-performance, standards-based satellite networks and cellular systems and services for mobile and fixed-line IP-based telephone, data and multimedia applications used by enterprises, governments, telecommunication providers and system integrators.
According to Tony Naff, STM Vice President of Finance, during the fourteen months of SYSPRO ERP Software utilization at STM headquarters, the company has been impressed with the software's functionality, user-friendliness and stability. STM wants to further integrate operations for added efficiencies and greater management control in additional affiliated companies located abroad.
STM Group headquarters went "live" with its SYSPRO software implementation in July, 2008 in its companies based in California and United Arab Emerites. The company had been utilizing a UNIX-based software solution; however, due to the antiquated nature of the software and the Group's growing diversity and complexity, the decision was made to seek a new software solution, one with a successful history of global implementations. Says Naff, "We wanted a product we could give to our affiliates in all parts of the world. Our United Arab Emirates unit also investigated the SYSPRO product and found it to their liking, as well."
Naff explains that the thoroughness of the SYSPRO installation documentation, STARS (Structured Technique to Achieve a Rapid Solution), even enabled STM to self-implement the SYSPRO software with minimal SYSPRO support.
As STM global units become operational on SYSPRO, the software will reside on hardware in the US with the global affiliates having access via a VPN (Virtual Private Network).
SYSPRO's more thoughtful approach to adopting new technology, such as web services and SOA platforms, also reflects the desires of its buyers who are driven by business needs and not by the latest headlines. This exemplifies SYSPRO's ongoing strategy of helping to simplify the success of its customers. SYSPRO calls its buyer landscape "PragmaVision,"TM consisting of pragmatic, visionary ERP executives that are driven by a desire for smart, but aggressive market growth.
